“Look beyond what you see”. Thank you Rafiki for a great line. In case you haven’t seen it, this quote came from the Disney movie- The Lion King.

We all can take a lesson from Rafiki (FYI-meaning friend in Swahili).

We may see with our eyes, but what we see are just our photoreceptors turning light into electric signals. These electrical signals travel from the retina through the optic nerve to the brain. Which then allows us to “see” the image.

Glamorous right?!

My theory is… We need to see less with our eyes and more from our gut, from our intuition. I know I’ve talked about this in the past but if you’re new, it’s possible you missed these thoughts.

When we allow our minds to make our decisions, it often can be from in a state where we are letting our fear or worry put thoughts into our heads.

These are not reality but what we believe them to be because of our own worry. In other words, our minds can misguide us so often.

“What if I’m very logical”, you may be saying as you read this. I consider myself more logical than emotional. Yes I have plenty of emotions but they aren’t always shown to everyone. However, most others will see my logical side in everyday conversation.

That being said, if I’m being honest with myself, I know I can let fears place thoughts into my head that make me worry about life circumstances that may never happen. I know my mind can make me feel insecure if I let it. I know my logical brain can still suffer as a result of me letting my mind call my actions when I’m in an emotional state.

We too often let light fragments guide us. We let worry and fear lead us. Sometimes worry and fear puts up a wall around us so we’re not vulnerable or feel worry or fear. There’s a cycle here. This, more often then not, can leave us in the dark.

My suggestion: Trust in what you don’t see. Listen instead.
